ALBERTO CARMEN HILBORN

Bert Hilborn, 75, of Silverwood, died Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Covenant Healthcare, Saginaw. He was born December 22, 1947 in Snover to John Samuel and Wilma (Hoose) Hilborn. He married Linda Benavides on August 24, 1968 in Snover.

Bert graduated from Sandusky High School and served in the United States Army. He was employed as an electrician for General Motors and retired after thirty-three years. He attended school to become a lay minister and served at Watertown Center Bible Church. Bert was a mentor with Forgotten Man Ministries for several years. He visited and taught bible studies to inmates at the Lapeer County Jail. Together, Bert and Lin provided foster care for children for over twenty years. He was a member of the Caro Disabled American Veterans. Bert had a hobby farm, loved building projects, and doing anything outdoors. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, he always smiled proudly when they were together. Bert’s family will always remember and cherish the phone calls he made to them on their birthdays, singing his special Happy Birthday song to them.

Bert is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Lin; children: Jerry (Patti) Hilborn of Silverwood; Darren (Kim) Hilborn of Linwood; Aaron (Chandler) Hilborn of Clifford; Chris Hilborn; of Mt. Morris; Destiny (Casey) Hunter of Midland; Annette Hilborn of New Haven; Sandi Hilborn of Vassar; grandchildren: Jaxson, Paige, Olivia, Garrett, Nathan, Tessa, Logan, Lucas, Owen, Benjamin, Mahrieya, Ryder, Serenity, Patty, Ava, Caden, Pheonix; brothers: Ralph Hilborn, Paul Hilborn, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Dale Hilborn, Ed Hilborn; sister, Joyce Hilborn.

Memorial service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023 in Kingston Wesleyan Church with Pastor Len Wyatt officiating. A picture slideshow celebrating Bert’s life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Kingston Wesleyan Church.
