Irene Kubas

<p>Irene (nee Segedy) Kubas, 91, of Stoystown, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2023. Born in Wilbur, Pennsylvania, Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Helen Segedy, her husband Joseph Kubas, siblings Anne Segedy, James Segedy, Helen Tober, and Mary Gelsie.&nbsp; She is survived by her children Cynthia Kubas of Yardley, Nancy Kubas of Clearwater, Florida, and Joseph Kubas of Camp Hill. She will be truly missed by her children, nieces and nephews, all friends and those who loved her. Irene was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Hooversville and enjoyed baking Hungarian pastries for their bake sales and her family.&nbsp; Her Hungarian nut rolls were enjoyed by all.&nbsp; In her youth she enjoyed bowling with her league as well.&nbsp; She was a caring wife and mother and a member of the PTA and Band Parents at Shade School District.&nbsp; She maintained her wonderful sense of humor throughout her life. In later years she cared for her husband during his illness until his death in 2012 and was cared for by her son Joseph during her final time with us.&nbsp; She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and word-game shows on TV until the end.&nbsp; She had a love of nature - plants animals, fresh air, and instilled a love of nature in her family.&nbsp; She had a big, generous heart - always made sure we had plenty of food during our visits and lots to take back. She volunteered at Somerset Hospital&nbsp;and with Meals on Wheels, and helped those in need with rides to the doctor, grocery shopping, etc. and was encouraging and supportive to people, enjoyed the lottery, and going gambling on the bus with her friends. Her family was the focus of her life.&nbsp; Irene and Joe fell in love at the dances they used to attend, and in her final days she said that she wanted to be with Joe again, dancing like they used to do.&nbsp; Always quick with a smile and joke, very much enjoying the sound of laughter, and had dinner on the table when we got home from school. The family would like to thank her close friends Louise and Laurie and to caregivers Linda and Melissa.&nbsp; She loved animals and wanted any donations to be send to the Humane Society of Somerset Co., P.O. Box 182, Somerset, PA 15501. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Deaner Cremation Center, 976 Barn St., Hooversville.
