Lawrence Leon Cole, Sr. Obituary

Lawrence Leon Cole, Sr. of Aberdeen, AKA Cole, Cole J, Luke, Cozy Cole, and Bighead, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Accent Care Hospice in Baltimore. He was 81.

Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, he was the son of the late Robert James and Lillie Mae (Cromwell) Cole.

A retired chemical technician with the resource and development division for the former J.M. Huber, Mr. Cole was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir. He was a member of the Gentlemen’s Club at Salesianum High School where he was also a prior member of BASS. In his spare time he enjoyed coaching football for the Aberdeen Parks and Rec. and coaching both basketball and Tee Ball for Aberdeen Proving Ground. He ran the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4X100m, and the 4x400m for the Havre de Grace Consolidated Track and Field Team. He also sang with the singing group Otis and the Morocco’s and his favorite songs were “Float On” and “Mr. Telephone Man”.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Rosetta (Cotton) Cole; children, Paula Renee Washington of Ft. Worth, TX ,Lawrence Leon Cole, Jr. of Edgewood, Anthony Leon Cole, Sr. and his wife Tasha of Bristow, VA and Myron Derek Cole of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Ashley R. Smith, Matthew J. Henney, Anthony L. Cole, Jr., Hannah M. Henney, Payton J. Henney, and Kylee N. Little; great grandkids Aliyah R. Johnson, Levi Smith, Logan Smith, Stefan O. Henney, and Jaxson Henney; his Grand kid Shepherds, Nyjah R. Cole, Noble C. Cole, Nasya R. Cole, Ariya R. Cole, and Nadya R. Cole; his sister, Lillie Alberta Paschall of Baltimore; and his best friend Larry Struthers. Mr. Cole leaves behind a strong legacy of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings, Bernard R. Cole, Sr., Robert W. Cole, Sr., Catherine E. Terry and Vivian L. Robinson, and his Grand kid Maltipoo Kiki.

The family is most grateful to Franklin Square Hospital, Harford Memorial Hospital and Lorie Bulle Rock Rehabilitation for their care and compassion.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Friday, May 19 at 10:00am. Interment will be at Harford Memorial Gardens with Anthony Leon Cole, Sr., Anthony Leon Cole, Jr., Lawrence Leon Cole, Jr., Myron Derek Cole, Allen DeWayne Jordan, Jr., and Derek Maurice Cromwell serving as pallbearers.
