Douglas Edward Feckley Obituary

It is with such a heavy heart to announce the sudden passing of Douglas Edward Feckley on April 29, 2023, at his home in Blind Bay, British Columbia, on the beautiful Shuswap Lake. Doug was born on September 3, 1957, to Lorne and Elva Feckley in Stayton, Oregon, and was the 4th of 5 children. Doug had 2 older brothers, Tim (Carol) and Richard (Alice), an older sister Judy (Rod) and a younger sister Lynda (Dalvin). Sadly, Richard passed away in 2022. He was also loved by his 8 nieces and 9 nephews.

Doug and Lynda moved to Rosebud, Alberta, in 1968 with their parents to begin their journey on the family farm while Richard and Tim went to Vietnam. Judy stayed behind to finish school in Oregon. Eventually, Doug fell in love and married Jean Crawford from Calgary, Alberta, his wife of 44 years. Doug became a Journeyman Electrician during this time and soon they were blessed with two beautiful sons, Ryan (Angela) and Blayne whom he loved dearly. At this time, Doug decided to make a career change and started working in the IT department at Petro Canada. He continued working in IT for Home Oil and then transferred to Swan Hills, Alberta, in 1993 with Home Oil/Federated Pipelines as an Electrician and then to Whitecourt working for Pembina Pipeline as an Operator, which is where he eventually retired. Doug had a passionate pursuit of understanding and debating politics with anyone who was interested. The problem was that he was usually right, even if he wasn’t! He was adventurous and loved going on trips with family and friends, especially somewhere warmer than Canada.

Doug’s sense of humour and kind spirit drew people to him and was loved everywhere he went by everyone he met. Doug had a love/hate/frustrated relationship with golf; however, for some reason he bought a vacation property (Birchwood Village Greens) and later a home in golf communities. Doug was also remembered by his collection of t-shirts accumulated over the years with sayings on them that always brought a chuckle or comment from unsuspecting people. Simply put, Doug was an amazing human being and will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him.

There will be a Celebration of Life was held on June 4th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Service Chapel with a reception to follow in the Mountainside room.
