Duane Robertson Obituary

Duane Robertson, 83 years old Checotah resident, passed away peacefully, at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. He was born on Tuesday, May 15, 1934 to Luster John and Lois (Burks) Robertson in Archer City, TX. Duane grew up in Texas and graduated from Archer City High School in 1952. He went to work in the oil field as a roughneck from 1951-1962. On Wednesday, July 20, 1955, he married Alyce King in Wichita Falls, TX. After driving a truck hauling oil rigs, he went to work for A P Green in 1967, where he was the Superintendent of Maintenance retiring in 1996. They moved to Checotah in 1998. He loved music and loved playing the fiddle and guitar. Duane would go to the nursing homes on Tuesday nights where he played his fiddle with a group of his friends. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, blue grass gospel music and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Checotah. Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Daniel Robertson; three brothers, one sister. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Alyce of the home; his children, Dale Robertson and his wife Jessie, David Robertson and his wife Sherry, Darin Robertson and his companion Beth Wright and Sarah Robertson and her fiancé Rick Gissler; his grandchildren, Steven and his wife Amanda, Jennifer and her husband Antony, Jason and his wife Cassie, Georgia, Joshua and Dustin. Duane is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, lots of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family and a lifetime of friends.
