Phillip Gregg Evatt Obituary

Phillip G. Evatt, 53, of Arenas Valley passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels. Service arrangements are pending.

Phillip was born August 6, 1969 in Alamogordo, NM to Claudine and Eddie Evatt. He graduated from Silver High School, participated in FFA where he built a flatbed trailer and placed with it at the NM State Fair. He then went on to start his own band where he covered his favorite artist, Merle Haggard. He played at the Grant County Fair Dances for many years. He had an amazing voice. He was also lead singer with the Delk Band which played all over NM, TX, CO, and AZ, especially at the Hanover Outpost which his parents owned at the time. He also played with Shad Burns and Clay Mac. He went on to start a construction company called ‘Evatt Contracting’.

He is survived by his brother and sister, Mike Evatt (Rhonda) of Silver City, NM and Sherrie Evatt of Roswell, NM; his three children, Haley Collard (Tyson) of Arenas Valley, NM; Keeley Evatt of Las Cruces, NM, Braden Evatt of Arenas Valley, NM; three grandchildren, Tyley, Hayson, and Rawllyn Collard; and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Ella Gatlin and Baxter and Opal Evatt; and parents, Eddie and Claudine Evatt.
