James G. Sloan, 69 of Gilbert departed this life Thursday, April 27, 2023.

Born on May 20, 1953 in Madison, WV he was the son of the late Gordon Jean (Deskins) and Grover Cleveland Sloan, Jr.

James was a Surface Mine Foreman, who also enjoyed golfing, fishing, ATV riding, camping, boating, and riding his Harley motorcycle.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, and attending church at Christ Cathedral in Iaeger, WV.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 52 years: Regena K. (McGraw) Sloan of Gilbert; sons: James D. (Sheri) Sloan of Baisden and Jeremy (Christi Layne) Sloan of Gilbert; grandchildren: David Brennan Sloan (Emily Hatfield) of Charleston, Jordan Sloan and Braxton Sloan, both of Gilbert, Hannah Sloan, and Logan James Sloan, both of Baisden; sister: Sue (Jimmy) Taylor of Hanover, WV; brothers: Gary (Linda) Sloan of Browning Fork, Nick (Jackie) Sloan of Whitesburg, KY, Mike (Gwen) Sloan of Oceana, Timothy Sloan of Newton grove, NC.  He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and other dear relatives, friends, and co-workers.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, May 5, 2023 from 6:00 till 8:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 7:00 pm with Rev. Lowell Sparks and Rev. Russell King officiating.

Honoring his wishes, James remains will be cremated following services.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
