1945 – 2023

Mrs. June Lesley Nielsen of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at Innisfail, Alberta on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the age of 77 years. June was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England on June 23, 1945. She came to Canada in 1947 and settled in Bassano, Alberta. In 1951 June moved to Red Deer, Alberta. She lived there until 1964 and then moved to Drumheller, Alberta with her newly wed husband, Rodney. Over the length of June and Rod’s fifty-eight and a half years of marriage, they ventured all over Canada, living and working in fifteen different towns and cities. Eventually they settled down for good and both retired in Red Deer, Alberta. June will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Rodney Nielsen, her son, Christopher Nielsen, as well as eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She will also be deeply missed by her two brothers, Bruce Marriott, and David Marriott, and her three sisters, Wendy Mitchell, Zeta Brown, and Nancy Mahon. June was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Nancy Marriott, a daughter, Carrie Creelman, and two sisters, Rae Celotti, and Linda Marriott. A Celebration of June’s Life will be held at the Horizon Village Community Hall, #55 – 2821 Botterill Crescent, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca.
