Obituary

James Lewis Sirois passed away at his home in Millinocket on Sunday, April 16th, 2023 after a brief battle with clear cell renal carcinoma. James was born in Millinocket on May 18th, 1965 to Janelle (Hebert) and Leo Sirois. He graduated from Stearns High School and earned a bachelor's degree in education at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

After a brief stint of teaching in the Medway school system, James decided he wanted to see more of the world and traveled to Hawaii and New Zealand. Upon returning to the U.S., he traveled to Alabama with friends and began working for a textile mill, later transferring to South Carolina. It was here that he once again changed careers and began working for the Bridgestone Tire Co., where he was employed at the time of his passing. His northern Maine family often teased him about his "mixed" accent -- half South Carolina/half Maine. The pull of the north never left him, and he acquired the family home on Colony Place with a plan to completely renovate it and retire there. While he was able to complete much of the renovation work, he became ill before he was able to retire to Maine. Knowing how much this meant to him, the family had him airlifted from the hospital in Augusta, Georgia to his home on Colony Place so that his final hours would be spent where he wanted to be -- HOME.

A generous man, James enjoyed the simple things in life -- country music, going for long rides -- and loved his family deeply. He leaves behind his sister Diane and husband Terry Cain, his brother Roland and wife Suzanne Sirois, and sister Jessy Sirois, nieces Shannon Sirois, Emily Arruda, Leah Sirois, Abby Cain and nephew Jordon Cain. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Jeaneanne (who was able to fly home with him from the hospital), her two sons, and her grandson Kash that James was especially fond of.

James was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Janelle, and his two oldest brothers, David and Richard (Itch).
