RUMFORD – Wayne F. Oakes, 63, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday April 8, 2023.

Wayne was born in Methuen, MA on January 11, 1960 the son of Melvin and Semone (Ames) Oakes, Sr. He was a graduate of Greater Lawrence Technical High School in Lawrence, MA. He served in the US Air Force and worked as a train conductor for the railroad. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing.

Wayne was married in Rumford, ME on August 27, 1994 to Denise Jamison who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include his daughters, Stacie Oakes of Rumford and Shannon Oakes of Manchester, NH, sons, William Signor and wife Jamie of Berlin, NH and Wayne Oakes of NH, grandchildren, Cheyenne Wright of Derry, NH, Dallas and Zander Wright-Cray of Ossipee, NH, brothers, Larry Oakes of Lawrence, MA, Calvin Oakes of GA and Robert Oakes and wife Laurie of Readfield, a sister, Tamara Raycraft, sisters-in-law Theresa Lemay and husband Michael of Rumford, Crystal Touchette of Rumford, Donna Touchette of Rumford, and brother-in-law Poochie Touchette and wife Karen of Rumford and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Melvin, Jr., sisters Semone Lake and Judy Oakes, father and mother-in-law Charles and Grace Jamison and a sister-in-law Vickie Jamison and a brother-in-law Walter Bedard.
