<p>BASILE- It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Mary Veronie Reed announces her passing at the Basile Care Center on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the age of 86. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Basile with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mary loved cross-stitching, sewing, and crossword puzzles. She was a very charitable person who did a lot of volunteer work, including Meals on Wheels, feeding the homeless and donating clothes. Mary will be dearly missed by all, especially her children, Darrell Reed of Albuquerque, NM, and Dianna Lejeune and husband, Timothy of Iota; brother, Alcee Veronie and wife, Joyce of Hathaway; her pride and joys, her six grandchildren, Sherrie Lejeune, Trinity Lejeune, Mercedes Lejeune, Caleb Reed, Summer Reed, and Sawyer Reed; and her four great grandchildren, Willow Lejeune, Abagail Smith, Riley Carter, and Analynne Lejeune; as well as extended family and friends. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She is preceded by her husband, Bert Joseph Reed; sons, Rusty Reed and Kevin Reed; and siblings, Donald Veronie and Sylvia Thibodeaux. </p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Thursday, April 13th from 9:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will pray a Rosary at 1:00 pm on Thursday.&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Pallbearers include Timothy Lejeune, Darrell Reed, Trinity Lejeune, Caleb Reed, James Veronie, and Richard Miller, with honorary pallbearer, Tony Miller. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Family and friends may view this obituary and sign the guestbook at www.ardoinfuneralhomes.com. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Basile, 1210 South Ryan, (337)432-6726 is in charge of arrangements. </p>
