Dr. Yoshinobu D. Oshiro, Ed.D.

<p>Dr. Yoshinobu D. Oshiro, 94, of Pearl City, Hawaii, passed away on November 6, 2022.&nbsp; He was born on May 11, 1928 in Ewa Hawaii. </p><p>Yoshinobu initially served in the US Army Military Intelligence Service, 441st Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) in occupied Japan. He was a recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal as a result of his Army service. He then attended the University of Hawaii and received a Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant and served in the US Air Force Reserve where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. </p><p>Upon his retirement, Yoshinobu became active members of the MIS Veterans Club of Hawaii and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 110. </p><p>Dr. Oshiro also received his Ed.D. in Education at Utah State University in Logan, Utah and was a principal of Iroquois Point Elementary, Ewa Beach Elementary and Nimitz Elementary.&nbsp; He was an active member of Hawaii United Okinawan Association (HUOA) and was a recipient of the organization’s Legacy Award in 2016.&nbsp; He also served as Vice President of the Haebaru Club for many years. </p><p>All the activities Yoshinobu participated in had a common thread that showed he deeply cared for, loved being with and enjoyed helping people. </p><p>He is survived by sons, Earl (Lorna) Oshiro, Glen Ebat, and Kevin Ebat; daughters, Ann (Orrin) Wong and Victoria (Gary) Ebat-Selke; 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. </p><p>He is predeceased by, Nancy T. in 1992, and Anna Nabarrete Ebat in 2022. </p><p>Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel.&nbsp; Visitation begins at 8:30 am, family program at 10:00 am, and service to start at 10:30 am.
