<p><br></p><p>RUMFORD – Gladys Mae Kaulback Gilbert, age 96, of Rumford, Maine passed away peacefully on Friday March 31, 2023 at the Rumford Community Home. She was born in Weld, Maine on May 4, 1926, the fourth of Laurin and Oressa (Rhodenizer) Kaulback’s seven children.</p><p>In March 1946, Gladys was married in Mexico, Maine to Eugene “Buster” Gilbert and later that year moved to the house they built together, a place she called home for 77 years. She was predeceased by her parents, beloved husband Buster, daughter Patricia Boyle, grandson Keith Boyle, and siblings Geneva Theriault, Madeline Duguay, Phyllis Richards, Ruth Gill, and Laurin (Ted) Kaulback. She is survived by her son Bob “Butch” Gilbert (Mary) of Westerville, Ohio, sister Ruby Greenwood of Newport, Vermont, Son-in-Law Bobby Boyle of Worthley Pond, Maine, and grandchildren Krista Boyle of Jay, Maine, Larysa (Kelly) Riddlebaugh of Columbus, Ohio, Andrew (Jordan) Gilbert of Helena, Alabama, and cherished great grandchildren Georgia Gilbert, Gaines Gilbert, and Charlie Riddlebaugh.</p><p>Gladys was a graduate of Stephens High School Class of 1944. She worked for 30 years at the Rumford Falls Trust Co./Maine National Bank. She was a Communicant of the Parish of The Holy Savior St Athanasius St John Church, a 70-year member of St. Timothy Circle Daughters of Isabella, a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Bomberettes Bowling League. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family as well as the many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends with whom she was very close over the years. Her favorite past times included watching the Red Sox and Patriots (only when they won), bingo, slots, bowling, eating lobster and spending the summers at her Roxbury Pond Camp.</p><p>Friends and family are invited to sign the online guest book and share memories with the family at www.meaderandson.com.</p><p>A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Thursday April 13, 2023 at the Parish of The Holy Savior St Athanasius St John Church 126 Maine Ave, Rumford, ME. Interment later in the spring will be in the Demeritt Cemetery in Peru. Friends and family are invited to call at the Meader &amp; son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford, ME on Wednesday April 12, 2023 from 6-8 PM.
