Deanna Sato

<p>Deanna “Dee” (Cloutier) Sato, 86, of Southington, widow of Douglas K. Sato, passed away on April 1, 2023 at the Southington Care Center in Southington, CT. Born on March 7, 1937 in Old Town, ME, she was the daughter of the late Rita Clukey. Deanna was a teacher here in Bristol for over 25 years. She taught at Bristol Eastern, Terryville High School, and Bristol Central where she spent most of her teaching career. When she wasn’t teaching, Dee enjoyed going to the theater, enjoying shows in New York City and London. She also enjoyed traveling to South America for the warmth and the sights. She was a member, along with her daughter Susan, of the Quilter’s Guild of Brooklyn, NY. She was a 15-year member of the Mended Hearts program which gave support to those who have had heart surgery. Lastly, Dee was a member of Quota International for many years and for the last five years a member of Quota Club of Bristol. Deanna is survived by her two sons Kirk Sato and his wife Laura of Bristol, CT and Craig Sato and his husband Joseph Takarewski of Brookline, MA; three daughters Susan Sato- Duchaine and her husband Randy of Brooklyn, NY, Alyson Sato of Arcadia, FL, and Gail Welch and her husband Mark of Sarasota, FL; her brother Michael Clukey of Naples, FL; eight grandchildren Jason and Christopher Deraleau, Jana Szeglin, Julie Sementa, Lena and Amelia Welch, and Maria and Douglas Sato; seven great grandchildren Charlotte, Lucille, Theadore, Logan, Nathan, Estelle, and Drea, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dee wanted to express how fortunate she was to have such a wonderful family. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 6, at 10am at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Quota Club of Bristol, P.O. Box 121, Bristol, CT 06010 or to Bread for Life, P.O. Box 925, Southington, CT 06489.</p>
