Mr. Henry Dean "Count" Taylor Obituary

On August 8, 1951, both the late John Evans Taylor and Agnes Louise White Taylor welcomed their third child into the world, Henry Dean Taylor. Henry was named after his uncle, the late Henry Taylor of Chicago, IL. Uncle Henry was honored to know his name would live on considering he had no children. Henry was affectionately called Count.

Henry’s birthplace was in the Taylor Town Community in Thomson, Georgia. He attended the local McDuffie County Schools. Life was adventurous for Henry, very often having fun with family members and friends. He enjoyed riding bikes and changing gears in his brother Johnny’s car. He attended the family church, Liberty Hill A.M.E. of Thomson, GA and he later acknowledged his faith and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ while attending an outreach program while at Victory Baptist Church.

In 1971, Henry enlisted in the U.S. Army. The U.S. Army taught him discipline and many life lessons. He served his country proudly during the unpopular Vietnam War. After his completion of active duty, he became a member of the Georgia Army National Guard Unit in Thomson, Georgia. Henry’s work experiences were diverse starting with Uniroyal, Westlake, and later Walmart. His most memorable employment was with Thomson Oak Flooring. The owners were personable and fishing in the property pond was relaxing. In addition to fishing, Henry enjoyed music and lawn care. He found pleasure in watching college football, his favorite team was ‘Georgia Tech’ until his nephew Adrian signed with Tennessee.

His memories will forever live in the hearts of those he leaves behind: three sisters, Edith (David) Hines of Thomson, GA, Gloria Taylor Jones of North Augusta, SC and Diane (Michael) Gamble of Mint Hill, NC; two brothers, Randy Evans Taylor, Sr., and Calvin Sprueill both of Thomson, GA; four nieces, Marcie, Yolanda, Charde’ and Bryonna; nine nephews, Tyrone, Darrick, Jamal, Randy II, Lionel, Alex, Maurice, JP and Adrian; one aunt, Juanita Taylor Wheeler of Chicago, IL; a sister-in-law, Marvenia Bell of Macon, GA; a brother-in-law, Frank Jones of Augusta, GA; a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives care providers and many friends.
