Billy Neil Pointer

<p>Billy N Pointer, Sr., 75, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Hobbs, NM. He was born June 14, 1947 in Renton, Washington to Leon William and Edna Elaine (Griggs) Pointer. </p><p>Billy served in the Marine Corps. He worked several interesting jobs including being a Carnival jockey, then spent most of his mid to late years working in the oilfield. </p><p>Affectionately known as “Mr. Bill” in the neighborhood, Billy was known as the guy who could fix anything and knew everything. It even became a little game to try and stump him. He would teach survival skills to us while on favorite family outings like arrowhead or rabbit hunting or motorbike/minibike riding. Billy enjoyed playing pinochle, dominoes, chess and was on avid reader. He also loved working with computers and was a published author, writing poems and songs. Billy definitely had some funny quirks-we celebrated Flag Day instead of his birthday, and if you said, “peanut butter” or “snow” he’d tell you to stop cussing! His whole life through, Billy loved coffee shopping and the waitresses. </p><p>In addition to his parents, Billy was predeceased by a younger brother Jimmy and a son Billy Jr. He is survived by his wife Janice (Bourn) Pointer of Hobbs, daughters Laurie Pellissier and husband Robert of Hobbs, Kimberlee Braziel and Husband Teddie of Brownfield, Tx, son, Timothy Stuber and wife Michelle of Lovington, daughter, Michelle Tate of Lamesa, Tx, daughter, Lois McKinney of Louisiana, one sister Donnie Martinez, two brothers James Pointer and wife and Frank Pointer, all of Oregon. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. </p><p>The family wants to say a Special Thank You to his friend Danny. </p><p>To honor Billy’s wishes , no funeral service will be held at this time, a family gathering will be held at a later date. </p>
