Paula Lou Gould Obituary

Our dearest Mimi passed peacefully into the loving arms of The Father on March 28, 2023. Paula was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and “Mimi.”

Paula Lou Davis Gould was born on December 24, 1947, to Crawford Eastland and Rebecca Tess Davis in Abilene, TX. Her father’s career on the pipeline took their family to several locations in West Texas and New Mexico before returning to Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1966 and moved to San Angelo to continue her education at Angelo State University.

While at Angelo State, Paula met Bill Gould, and they were married on August 15, 1969, in San Angelo, TX. Paula and Bill were blessed with two children: a son, Kyle, and a daughter, Ashley. Paula was an extremely dedicated wife and mother and spent the next eighteen years being a stay-at-home mom.

In 1993, shortly after Ashley started school, Paula began substitute teaching. This work eventually led to her becoming an instructional aide at Glenmore Elementary School. She worked at Glenmore Elementary touching the lives of so many children and teachers until her retirement in May 2010. After retirement, she returned to Glenmore to continue to support educating children through tutoring until 2020.

Paula loved serving God and others. She was an active member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church and the Sisters Sunday School Class. Volunteering at Vacation Bible School, the Summer Kids Eat Free Program, and preparing Blessing Boxes were just a few of her favorite ways to serve the community. Above all, Paula enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons. Watching them grow and participate in football and baseball gave her so much joy and was the highlight of her life.

Paula is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill Gould; a son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Teri Gould of San Angelo, TX; a daughter, Ashley Gould of San Angelo, TX; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Felix Salvato of San Angelo, TX; a brother and sister-in-law, Ford and Patti Davis of Tow, TX; two loving grandsons, Luke and Graham Gould of San Angelo, TX; a nephew Steve Baldry of Shelton, WA; a nephew Eastland Davis of Istanbul, Turkey; a niece Stefanie Lawrence of Shelton, WA; and a niece Kristi Davis of Kyle, TX.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Crawford and Tess Davis; her dear uncle and aunt, Jim and Juanelle Hulse; and her best friend, Cecilia Allen.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 4:00 PM at Glen Meadows Baptist Church with Pastors Mack Roller, Scott Cotton, and Brian Carroll officiating.

Our family would like to express our deepest thanks to the Shannon ICU staff, especially Dr. Steven Cole, for the care and compassion they provided Paula and our family. We request that any memorial donations be made to the Glen Meadows Baptist Church Kids Eat Free or the Blessing Boxes Programs.
