Christopher "Chris" Robert Power Obituary

Christopher “Chris” Power

North Sydney

It is with great heartfelt sadness that we the family of Christopher Robert Power, age 57, announce his passing on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.  He died peacefully after a short illness with his family by his side.

Chris was born in North Sydney on February 23, 1966 to the Late Robert and Patricia (MacDonald) Power.  Chris was an avid lover of the outdoors and spent much of his time enjoying the serene beauty it encompassed. He was also an avid sailor since childhood which followed him into adulthood. He spent many happy summers at the Northern Yacht Club where he had met many lifelong friends along the way.  Chris was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched and his big bear hugs that meant so much to us all.  Chris’s career path started with the Militia which eventually led him to become a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Upon retiring, he spent his time with various carpentry projects.

Chris is survived by his son Christopher, daughter-in-law Serena and granddaughter Evalyn. Also surviving are his sisters Charmaine (Everett) Knickle, Carolyn Power (Donny), Cheryl (Glen) MacIntosh and brother Chad (Kerri Lynn) Power, brother-in-law Robert MacKenzie. Surviving nieces and nephews are Kelly, Michael, Mark, Gregory, Adam, Cory, David, Nicole, Matthew, Liam and Kameron. Great nieces and nephews are Logan, Ciaran, Kelsey Levi and Paige.

Besides his parents, Chris was predeceased by his sister Corrine, maternal grandparents Hugh J. and Vivian MacDonald and his paternal grandparents Edward and Jean Power.

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Drs. Archibald and Lapierre and the amazing staff on 4B and the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and support.

There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Deacon Dave Lewis officiating.  Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.

Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.
