Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

He passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in Wellington.

Jimmy was born October 6, 1941 in Childress to Olen C. Bridges and Leona Burns Bridges.

He worked hard his entire life and was an auto mechanic from an early age. He bought his service center 50 years ago and was in the wrecker business for over 50 years. He also enjoyed farming and ranching and purchased his first place in 1975. Jimmy taught his daughter Crystal to drive the hay trailer at a young age. He enjoyed his cooler of beer while he tended to his cows. Eight-year-old Crystal was helping him one day but he neglected to put water in the cooler for her. She was very thirsty and upon noticing he had no water, he handed her a beer and said, "here, take a couple sips of that." He loved his cows and always had to be working. He did not know how to sit still. In more recent years, he enjoyed driving around listening to Willie's Roadhouse on his satellite radio, watching black and white westerns on TV and going to the casinos in Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann Bridges; an infant daughter, Brenda Catherine; a brother, Arlis Bridges, and a sister, Laverne Richardson.

Survivors include his four children, Janice Colson and Billy, Jimmy L. Bridges, Crystal McFaul, and Tesire Sanders; grandchildren, Katie McFaul and fiance Justin Cassidy; a brother, Clemon Bridges; three sisters, Marilyn Slape, Janie Smith and husband Joe Dean, and Wanda Clements; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Jimmy would not let any ladies pump their own gas even if they pulled up to the self serve pumps.
He was always my first choice for front end alignments. His station was a gathering place to visit for some folks. He enjoyed people.
We will all miss him and his station...

I am not related, but Jimmy Frank Bridges seemed like a honest, hard working man. My dad Bob Richardson, was married to Jimmys sister. RIP and May God bless your family.

So sorry for your loss. Jimmy was so kind to so many ladies in this town. When I would go in for gas for my mower he would always insist on pumping the gas and putting it back in my vehicle. He will be greatly missed, he was just part of Childress.

Jimmy worked for my dad, Ray Wynn, when he was in high school at that very service station. He told me he learned that business from my Dad. When my Mom moved back from Canyon, Jimmy made sure her car was fully serviced. I always appreciated his kindness.
