Robert Joseph Gomes, Sr.

Robert Joseph Gomes, Sr. 61, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Rhode Island Hospital.

Born in Attleboro, MA, he was the son of Mary Ann (Souza) Gomes and the late Robert M. Gomes.

Robert was an Army Veteran. He worked as a printing press operator for A&H Manufacturing. He loved golf and was an avid football fan. Robert was an easy going guy with a great sense of humor who enjoyed making people laugh. He was also a very dedicated family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Besides his mother he leaves his companion, Linda Pierce, two daughters, Alexis Stifler and her partner Christopher Opolski of Walpole, MA and Heather Furtado and her husband Kevin of East Providence, one son, Robert Joseph Gomes, Jr. of East Providence, mother of his children, Linda Gomes, five grandchildren, Victoria Castle, Isabella Furtado, Robert Joseph Gomes, III, Jacob Opolski and Juliannah Furtado, one great grandson, Bentley Monroe, two sisters, Dawn Jackson and Kimberly Gomes, one brother, David Gomes and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 4-7 in the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will be held in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.
