Obituary
Helen C. Smith, 95, of North Providence passed away peacefully in her home on March, 26, 2023. Helen was born in Johnston in the house her father built after immigrating from Poland. She lived there fore 75 years before moving to her condo in North Providence. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and earned letters in Hockey and Softball.
One constant in her life was St. Thomas Church. She was married there in 1950, and her children and grandchild were baptized there.
Helen worked in the jewelry field as a jewelry designer for 40 years. She loved the business and especially loved all her jewelry. She would never be seen without her earrings and her special pendants and rings. Following her career in jewelry, she embarked on her second career as a legal secretary and enjoyed meeting and greeting all the people who walked through the office doors.
Helen was the youngest of 13 children. She is survived by 2 daughters, Sandra Smith and Debra Hill, her son-in-law, Raymond Hill, and grandson, Patrick Hill. She loved her children and especially her grandson.
Everyone who knew Helen loved her for her positive attitude and helpful nature. Her favorite expression was “I can and I will” which kept her going long after others would have given up.
But she was known most for her love of Polish music and polka dancing and her pride in her Polish heritage. We are sure there are Polkas playing in Heaven and she is teaching the angels some new steps.
A visitation will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 8-9am in the Tucker Quinn Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave (Rt.44) Greenville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Ave., Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston
