Carol Jean Hatfield, 81, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Allure of Geneseo.  Cremation rites have been accorded and per the families wishes, no services are being held.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be directed in memory of Carol to the American Parkinson Disease Association at PO Box 61420, Staten Island, NY, 10306, or www.apdaparkinson.org.

Carol was born July 11, 1941, the daughter of James and Mary (DeSutter) Appleman, in Geneseo, IL.  When she was an infant her mother Mary passed away, and she was fortunate enough to be raised by Leona Appleman.  She graduated from Atkinson High School, class of 1959.  On April 7, 1979, she married Roger Hatfield.  He preceded her in death on February 19, 2010.  She was employed at Kroger Grocery Store.  In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, baking, and painting – anything to do with arts and crafts.  She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Nona (James) Diericx of Atkinson, Lori (Lee) Rodriguez of Midland, MI, Jana (Bruce) Sivers of OK, James (Tammy) Neuleib of Pagosa Springs, CO, and Edwin Lee (Alberta) Neuleib of Parachute, CO; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Appleman; stepmother, Leona Appleman; her loving husband, Roger; sisters, Shirley Greve, Eileen DeVrieze, and Janet Kibling; and brother, Robert Appleman.
