<p>Christopher Thomas Edward Campbell </p><p>Florence </p><p>It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Chris Campbell, a beloved husband, son, nephew and friend. Chris passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Chris is survived by the love of his life Kerry Campbell (nee Fudge), Florence. Chris is also survived by his loving parents Beverly and Tom Campbell, Millville. Chris will be remembered for his sarcastic comments, the smirk on his face, his devotion to the people he loved and his easy-going nature. </p><p>Chris spent his childhood in Millville, playing little league baseball and road hockey with the MacLean boys as well as a multitude of neighborhood friends. Chris loved animals, went on trips to P.E.I with his parents, he swam like a fish and loved to ski. Some of Chris’ favorite things were listening to music, especially the Beatles and Metallica. Chris also enjoyed spending time with friends, smoking a cigar and having a glass of whiskey around a bon fire on a hot summer day. Chris was also an avid autograph collector of sports cards and celebrities as well as music records. Chris especially loved talking with his dad about the Toronto Blue Jays and their chances to win a third World Series. Chris loved going on geeky adventures with Kerry; they enjoyed planning trips to Comicon and adding to their collections. </p><p>Chris had a variety of jobs over the years from being an attendant at Bruce Marsh’s Irving and Jim MacNeil’s Esso gas stations in Bras d’Or, he was also a Census Canada Employee, a cashier and gift shop manager at the Inverary Inn Resort in Baddeck, late night auditor and most recently a snowplow operator in Toronto, which was his favorite occupation. </p><p>Chris was loved by all, including the Stubbert, Taylor and MacLean families. </p><p>Chris was pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents Margaret and Bruce Goodwin as well as paternal grandparents Agnes and Edward Campbell. He is also predeceased by his mother-in-law Sylvia Fudge. Chris had two beloved fur babies who passed away in recent years, his pride and joy Hershey and his grey hound Foxy, that he and Kerry rescued. </p><p>In recent years Chris had developed renal failure and was well cared for by Dr. Andrew Wawer and kidney specialist Dr. Tom Hewlett. We would also like to sincerely thank E.H.S, the staff at the Regional Hospital as well as the E. R and I.C.U units for their exemplary care and compassion. Chris’ best nurse of all of course was his wife Kerry who was his primary caregiver, advocate and who always stood by his side. </p><p>Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Chris will be held from 1-3 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or the local S.P.C.A.
