Ann Henderson

<p>Ann V. Henderson, wife of Donald L. Henderson, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 19, 2023, surrounded by her family.&nbsp; The Hendersons would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this July. </p><p>Mrs. Henderson was born in Union on October 5, 1937, to the late Herbert H. “Doc” Vinson and Annie Hopper Vinson. She was a graduate of Union High School and North Greenville Jr. College.&nbsp; Mrs. Henderson retired from the Union County School District after 24 years of service.&nbsp; She was lovingly known as “Mrs. Ann” to the many students, teachers and parents that passed through the Old Buffalo School and the New Buffalo School during the years 1973-1997. </p><p>Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Donice Orton and her husband Gary of Saluda, NC and Terri Renna and her husband Rick of Union, SC; two grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Drew Black (Taylor) of Liberty, SC and Doctor Gray Ransom of Sasebo, Japan; two great grandsons Bennett and Hudson and would have welcomed a third great grandson in July.&nbsp; Mrs. Henderson is also survived by two sisters-in-law Mrs. Lucille Hopper and Mrs. Armenta Martin (Buck) and several nieces and nephews including Dianne Stephenson who was reared in the home, several great nieces and nephews which included Jason Conley and Heather Loftis.&nbsp; “Aunt Ann” was so proud of Heather and her family and loved them dearly.&nbsp; Mrs. Henderson also leaves behind a “son and daughter of the heart” – Robert Johns and Barbara Baber (Wayne) and a special friend Margaret Parker. She also loved her Vinson cousins and always enjoyed the Vinson reunions for as long as she was able to attend. </p><p>Mrs. Henderson was predeceased by a brother Bobby McNeace. </p><p>Mrs. Henderson was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church of Prosperity, SC, where she attended the Young at Heart class and BLUE FROGS as long as her health allowed.&nbsp; Before moving to Prosperity, she was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Union, SC. </p><p>A celebration of life will be held at the Holcombe Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 3:00 in the afternoon conducted by Rev. Brett DeYoung. Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Union Memorial Gardens. </p><p>Active pallbearers will be Mark Haney, Terry Hopper, Tim Hopper, Robert Johns, Brandon Loftis and Taylor Black. </p><p>The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Three Oak Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Henderson during her illness. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Prosperity, SC; Tabernacle Baptist Church, Union, SC; or Furbaby Ranch C/O Holly Wise, 3839 Cross Keys Highway, Union, SC. </p><p>The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Terri and Rick Renna, 2083 Jonesville Highway, Union, SC 29379. </p>
