<p>Michael J. Monteiro “Swimming Trout”, 58, of Hyannis, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 16, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Karen Monteiro and the son of John Monteiro and Helena (Edwards) Peterson.</p><p><br></p><p>Michael worked in construction for many years. He was a Cape Cod Native and was a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe in Mashpee. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his loving wife Karen, Michael is survived by four children, April Baptiste of Ohio, Jerrica Rose and husband Wesley of South Yarmouth, Troy Monteiro of Providence, RI, Michael Z. Monteiro of Lake Elsinore, CA, his brothers Paul and Brian Monteiro, four grandchildren, Ailani, Nalia, Troy Jr., Zayla and many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>A visitation will be held at the Old Indian Meeting House 410 Meetinghouse Rd. Mashpee on Wednesday March 22, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:00am followed by a tribal service at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Old Indian Meetinghouse Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.ALZ.org.</p><p><br></p>
