Carlos Herman "Buddy" Morse Obituary

Carlos Herman “Buddy” Morse, 79, of Marion, passed away at 8:45 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2023, at his home.


Carlos was born on November 25, 1943 in Hurst to Richard Herman and Lorene (Barker) Morse. He was united in marriage to Shelia Marie Parini on March 12, 1964 in Hurst. They recently celebrated 59 years of marriage.


Carlos was a 1961 graduate of Hurst-Bush High School. After graduating he joined the working force and worked all his life at Old Ben Coal #24 until he retired.


Carlos was an avid fisherman and a member of the Southern Illinois Bass Busters. He was also an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. Carlos loved a good rummage sale and would often do trades. He was of the Baptist faith.


He is survived by his wife, Shelia Morse of Marion; son, Scott (Kenya) Morse of Marion; five grandchildren, Brockton Braddy of Marion, Kesler (Brittany) Weeks of Herrin, Devann (Genesis) Weeks of Marion, Alexandria (Mikel) Stacy of Marion and Kirsten (Joey) Weeks of Marion; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Ward of Herrin, Roberta McCoy of Kentucky, and Patricia Matiski of Royalton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


Carlos is preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Morse; parents; brother, Richard Morse.


Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City.


Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.


A private family interment will follow the service.


Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
