NORTH BROOKFIELD- Stephen "Steve" C. Robbie Sr, 83, of North Brookfield ,passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 18, 2023, after a long battle with heart disease at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. 


Steve was born on March 5, 1940 to James and Dorothy Robbie in Worcester, MA. After graduating in 1958 from Commerce High School in Worcester, MA, Steve enlisted with the Air Force Reserves. After completing military service, Steve held a variety of positions including insurance sales through John Hancock, milk delivery with Hillcrest Dairy, and working on parts for submarines at Warren Pumps. As a result of declining health, Steve retired in 1986. He also owned and operated Robbie Ceramics along with Ginger for 42 years.


In 1964, Steve met Priscilla (Ginger) Smith at Spencers Shoe Store in Worcester, MA. Steve and Ginger had two children and in the early 70’s bought their first and only home together where they enjoyed over 50 years of family memories. 


Steve’s favorite hobbies included collecting baseball cards, keeping track of actors and actresses in the movie industry, reading newspapers, and working on crossword puzzles. Also, he loved watching his favorite sports team, the New York Yankees. 


In Steve’s younger years he liked to coach little league baseball. He was also a leader for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Steve was also in a band called “The Shades” as lead singer. He was a devout Christian and an East Brookfield Baptist Church member for 36 years. He was head of Building and Grounds and fully honored his role for many years. He read scripture many Sundays and led a Bible study. Further, Steve read to the little children of Appleseed Montessori and North Brookfield Elementary School for many years. He was also a member of Hayden Lodge. 


Steve was predeceased by his parents, his sister Gloria Plankey and her husband Dell Plankey, brother Gordon Robbie, brother in-law Clint Goddard, and niece Debbie Alaimo. He is survived by his loving wife Ginger Robbie, son Stephen Robbie Jr. and his wife Theresa of Biddeford Maine, daughter Heidi Hunderup of North Brookfield, brother Glenn Robbie and his wife Nancy, and sister Connie Goddard. His five grandchildren include Victoria Boudreau and her husband Matt, Kyle Robbie and his wife Tori, Kayla Couture and her husband Willem, David Robbie and Richard Robbie. Tessabelle Robbie, Audrey Boudreau and Sawyer Robbie are great-grandchildren. 


A Celebration of Life will be held on April 22,2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the East Brookfield Baptist Church 262 E. Main St.. East Brookfield. The burial will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to East Brookfield Baptist Church. Pillsbury Funeral Home 44 Gilbert St. North Brookfield.
