Passed away peacefully at Riverview Manor on March 1, 2023 at the age of 96. Katrin was born on December 4, 1926 to Dimitri and Paraskevi Pinoz in Imbroz, Turkey. Predeceased by her loving husband Necdet (Jim) Bascan in 1999, married for 41 years. Dear mother of Peter Bascan and Barbara Guilbeault (Jeff) of Peterborough. Dear Yia Yia to Katina Guilbeault and Thomas Guilbeault (Tabitha) of Orillia. Loving Great Grandmother to Ava Meriam. Predeceased by her four sisters, Maki Zengin, Anistasia Kikideli, Marika Lalic and Vrisida Stamatelou, three nephews, Dimitri Kikideli, Kosta Stamatelou and Jimmy Lalic. Survived by her daughter and son, nephew Alex Lalic of Alberta, niece and nephews in Turkey and Greece. Katrin was a devoted homemaker and amazing cook who enjoyed sharing traditional foods with family and friends. Katrin and her husband Jim immigrated to Canada from Turkey in 1958 and established a life in British Columbia. Katrin and Peter moved to Peterborough in 2000 after the death of her husband to be close to family. Katrin’s family is grateful for the loving care the staff at Riverview Manor provided her where she made her home for the last five years. Special thanks to the attention and care of Dr. Andrew Binette.

Private family interment at Little Lake Cemetery. Family will host a drop in reception at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough from 2 to 4 pm on March 25, 2023,
