Verna Rigney

<p>Verna M. Rigney, two months shy of 100, passed away on March 17, 2023 at Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital.</p><p><br></p><p>Verna was born on May 30, 1923 to Court &amp; Mary (Nickel) Brandt. She was married to Elmer E. Rigney on January 29, 1944 in Sturgeon Bay. Verna started working as a nursing assistant at nursing homes, and a seamstress for Hanson Glove (later named Fox Point) in Merrill. She was able to stay home with her children and also helped Elmer with his construction business. Verna loved golfing and fishing. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, was skilled at crocheting and card playing, especially Nickels, Yahtzee and 500 Rummy. Verna was a great baker and enjoyed watching Gunsmoke. She always made time in her day to read her bible.</p><p><br></p><p>Verna is survived by her children – LeRoy (Lucille) Charles of Tomahawk, Steve (Ruth) Rigney of Tomahawk, Janet (Dick) Giers, Sandy (Gregg) Tholt of California; 20 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren with 3 additions on the way; two sisters-in-law – Sally Rigney &amp; Ginger Pinc.</p><p>She is preceded in death by her parents, husband – Elmer, daughter - Pat, infant son – Tom, grandson – Brian Finken, two great grandsons – Matt Russell &amp; Ryan Pepple, four brothers and three sisters.</p><p><br></p><p>The Funeral Service for Verna Rigney will take place at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Krueger Family Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Mathein will officiate. Visitation will take place on Tuesday evening from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10:00AM until the time of service of 11:00AM. </p><p><br></p><p>Krueger Family Funeral Home &amp; Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
