<p>George Robert Sharp, Jr. </p><p><br></p><p>Age 91, of State College, formerly of Bethel Park, passed peacefully on February 11, 2023. George attended primary school in Kansas before serving in the Navy, where he earned the National Defense and European Occupation medals. He met his beloved wife, Audrey, of 66 years in Ireland. He received his doctorate in engineering science at New Mexico State University before relocating to the Pittsburgh area. George worked at Bettis Atomic Power Lab, a division of Westinghouse, from 1967 until his retirement, where he worked on many government and military projects, including the Apollo Space Program. </p><p><br></p><p>George's hobbies included playing bridge and tinkering with clocks, engines, and motorcycles. Known for his deadpan humor and dry wit, George enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, particularly in the latter years with his great-grandchildren, playing school and hearing his great-granddaughter read to him. </p><p><br></p><p>George is preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Edith Sharp; and sisters, Nancy Lee Fry and Virginia Tilton. He is survived by his adoring wife, Audrey; son, Kerbin (Nanci) Sharp; daughter, Avril (Joel) Haight; grandson, Derrick (Eren) Sharp; granddaughters, Natasha (Kevin) Wray and Alana (Mark) Bergner; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Henry, and Layla; four step-granddaughters; Lisa (Jeremy) Bockman; Jackie (Rodney) Liskovec; Chrissy (Rob) VanHoose; and Samantha Scarboro; and ten step-great-grandchildren. </p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends and family welcome at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, 724-94-3211, on Saturday, May 6 from 1-2:30 p.m. Memorial Service to immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. in Beinhauer Chapel, including full military honors.
