Marjorie Perrin Obituary

Marjorie Ruth Perrin, 100, of Buckner, MO, passed away on February 27, 2023, at Centerpoint. Marjorie was born on January 10, 1923, to Herbert and Tina (Hunsucker) Bowling in Independence.

She was one of the first female math majors at what is now Central Missouri State University in 1941 in Warrensburg. This led to her eventually becoming a math teacher in Levasy, MO and in Pensacola, FL. Marjorie married her husband Layne in July of 1945, he passed away in 2005. She was a gifted quilter, and her husband would draw pictures of their family trips and their children’s accomplishments, and she would embroider them and sew them together. Marjorie was a very good gardener, her house during the spring, summer, and fall was always decorated with flowers from her garden. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Buckner, MO and was one of the first female elders to be appointed.


Marjorie is survived by her three sons Allen, Bruce, and Charles, grandchildren Christopher, Brian, and Courtney, and a great grandson Ethan. She is preceded in death by her husband Layne, and her parents Herbert and Tina Bowling, her sister Dorothy Winfrey, and her brother Herbert.
