<p>The Reverend Dr. Randolph Phillip Waugh, 77, of Clemmons, NC died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, March 16, 2023.Randy was born December 19, 1945 in Greensboro, NC to Ray Paschal and Grace Sprinkle Waugh. He graduated from High Point University in 1968 and Duke Divinity School in 1971. Soon after graduation from Divinity School, he married Brenda Souther on June 19, 1971. Randy and Brenda shared 51 wonderful years of marriage.</p><p><br></p><p>Rev. Dr. Waugh was an ordained Minister in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served churches in the following areas: Monroe, Charlotte, Statesville, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. In 1998, he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from High Point University, which is awarded to select professionals who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to ministry and theology. Randy was known for revitalizing churches and admired by many for his warm personality and ability to personally connect with the congregations which he served.</p><p><br></p><p>Randy’s favorite pastimes included playing golf with friends and his two sons, cheering on the Duke Blue Devils, listening to 50’s classic tunes, and exploring new areas in our beautiful state. Randy’s proudest achievement was his role as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather (“Pop-Pop”) who cherished spending time with his beloved family.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, David Paschal Waugh. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Waugh; children Brian Waugh (Kendra), Mark Waugh and Kathryn Ruckart (Jim); grandchildren, Will Thompson, Ashley Thompson, and Phillip Ruckart; and sister Gloria Griggs.</p><p><br></p><p>The memorial service will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church at 11am on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Rev. Jeremy Pegram and Rev. Dr. Glenn Kinken will officiate the service. The family will receive friends immediately after the service from 12-1pm at Centenary United Methodist church. Interment will follow at approximately 1:30pm in Forsyth Memorial Park.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Clemmons Food Pantry on 2660 Neudorf Road in Clemmons, NC, or to a charity of your own choice.</p>
