Obituary

David Eugene Joseph, 74, formerly of Tiffin and currently of Alpharetta, GA, passed away on Friday morning, March 17, 2023, at Northside Hospital Forsyth, Cumming, GA.

He was born on September 13, 1948, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Eugene B. and Alice L. (Feurer) Joseph.  On June 19, 1999, he married Svitlana “Lana” Bakhmutova and she survives.

He is also survived by his son, Mark F. (Nikki) Joseph of Alpharetta, GA; daughters, Jennifer A. (Jonathan Burden) Joseph of Brooklyn, NY and Katerina E. Joseph of Alpharetta, GA; brother, Dennis J. (Bunny) Joseph of Tiffin; and three grandchildren, Claudia Joseph of Alpharetta GA, Ophelia Burden of Brooklyn, NY; Florence Burden of Brooklyn, NY; and a brother-in-law, Tim Hafley of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Dianne Hafley.

David graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School and from The University of Dayton with a master’s degree.   After being a very early computer pioneer in the 1970's, David worked in the healthcare software industry for over three decades. The software programs that he built will help care for millions of patients for many years to come.  David's work colleagues will remember him as a hard worker with all of the answers, at the same time being a bit of a prankster, always ready to share a good laugh.

David was always a supportive father, supporting his daughter Jennifer on her move to start a career in New York City, and somehow agreeing to buy a drum set for his then teenage son Mark to suffer through the noise for about three years, and then supporting his daughter Katerina during her years of college studies.

With apologies to our fellow Ohio State Buckeye fans, David genuinely enjoyed watching the University of Georgia Bulldogs football teams recently win two national championships, where two of his children are alums.

Even though David lived away from Tiffin for many years, he always had Tiffin close to his heart.  He enjoyed visiting the town or getting letters or photos from family in the area.  David was never happier than when he could spend time with his dearest sister Dianne or share a joke with his beloved brother Dennis, and it is with pleasure that his family can lay him to rest in his cherished place of birth.

His Mass of Christian Burial be at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:30 AM on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-2424.
