Carol Ann Leyda Obituary

Carol A. Leyda went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 13, 2023. She died peacefully at the Carolyn’s Hospice Residence on Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was born in Northbridge, Massachusetts on December 20, 1941; she was 81 years old.


Carol was the eldest of five children to Hilda (Bowyer) and George DeBoer, mother of three children, and loving wife. Carol grew up in Sutton, Massachusetts and lived on a dairy farm. She moved to the North Carolina Coast with her husband John who served as a Police Officer. Carol moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 2018 to live with her daughter upon the death of her husband.


Carol enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, camping, and the beach. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading. She loved her furry friends, especially her cat Cici. She worked in the hospitality business for most of her life.


Carol was preceded in death by her devoted husband of forty years John W. Leyda of New Bern, North Carolina; Eldest Son, Richard A. Dargan; Grandson, Richard E. Dargan; and Granddaughter, Abigail O. Dargan.


She is survived by her daughter Wendi Lee Braddock of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Son, James M. Dargan and his wife Sarah of Cary, North Carolina; her youngest brother, Robert DeBoer and wife Grace of Dresden, Maine; and three grandchildren, Kristen Dargan, George Braddock, and Robert J. Dargan.


Her ashes will be laid to rest beside her husband John at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
