Marilyn J. Sears

<p>Marilyn J. Sears, 85, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Brentwood Rehab and Nursing Center in Danvers.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born in Rockport on March 14, 1937, daughter of the late Eugene and Anna (Peterson) Chick.</p><p><br></p><p>Marilyn was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1935.</p><p><br></p><p>She worked for many years for Dr. Ross, Dr. Benoit, and Dr. Stelluto at Cape Ann OBGYN as their office secretarial manager, a job she truly loved.</p><p><br></p><p>Marilyn enjoyed knitting, spending time with her grandchildren, and especially going to Lake Winnipesaukee. You could also find her sitting on the front deck talking with her neighbors passing by as well as sitting with Paul enjoying watching the boats at the cut bridge.</p><p><br></p><p>Marilyn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her 2 sons, Norman Sears Jr., and his wife Bernadine, Steven Sears, and his wife Donna; 5 grandchildren, Sean Sears, Eric Sears and his fiancé Melanie, Kaitlin Sears, Amber Sears, and Kerri Sears; her lifelong dear friend, Carol Russell; her close friends from the Knitting Club and all her special neighbors.</p><p><br></p><p>She was predeceased by her stepbrothers, Lester Chick and his wife Mary, Frank Chick and his wife Trudie, Prescott Chick and his wife Lois and her longtime companion, Paul Charland.</p><p><br></p><p>Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Sunday, March 19, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a Service beginning at 3:30 p.m.</p><p><br></p><p>Her Graveside will be held in Locust Grove Cemetery on Monday, March 20, at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to Boston Children’s Hospital, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215 Attn: Gift Services.</p><p><br></p><p>For online condolences please visit www.greelyfuneralhome.com</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
