We are heart broken to announce the sudden passing of David Barrett, 78 years of age, on March 4th, 2023. Born in Manchester, England on November 14, 1944, he emigrated to Canada in 1982 and lived for many years in Hamilton, Ontario before Fonthill became his home. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Ada and his sister Pauline. Survived by his loving partner Kathy (Rymer) Siamro, his daughters Debbie (Bob) Woolley and Lisa (Jason) Montani and step-daughter Erin Guagliano. Beloved Grandpa to Mathew, Amanda, Taylor and Brooke. Survived also by his sister Doreen (John) and many nieces, nephews and cousins in England. He proudly served in the Royal Navy from 1962 to1974 serving on many ships in the Far East. He spent many years working in electronics. His love for electronics started very young and he built his first computer in the late 70’s. He completed his tax certification and enjoyed helping many during the tax season for over 20 years, referring to his clients as family. He loved travelling, riding his Harley, creating wood and metal projects with Kathy and spending time with family, friends and Daisy. He was a ballroom dancer extraordinaire, enjoyed photography, music, played guitar and had enjoyed being a DJ. He loved the outdoors, loved to surf, sail and go camping - first under canvas in England then ‘glamping’ in later years. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Antediluvian Order of the Buffaloes serving in many lodges in England and Ontario where he achieved the level of ROH Grand Primo, a member of the Toastmasters Club, International Brotherhood of Magicians, Alcoholics Anonymous and Hamilton Navy Veterans. Very spiritual, David was a member of the Associated Gospel Church in Hamilton then Welland. We love you so much. Words cannot adequately express how much we will miss you but we find comfort in our memories and your love for us lives on. We will be having a celebration to honour David’s life and legacy with family and friends in the Fall
