<p>Rena Gillio, 91 of Oglesby died at 7:44 a.m. March 13, 2023 in LaSalle County Nursing Home, Ottawa.</p><p><br></p><p>Mass of Christian Burial will be private at Holy Family Church, Oglesby. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, LaSalle. Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby is in charge of arrangements.</p><p><br></p><p>Rena was born May 9, 1931 in Oglesby to Enrico and Attilia (Marzetta) Balzarini. She married August Gillio May 21, 1955 in Holy Family Church. He died July 19, 2008.</p><p><br></p><p>Rena was a homemaker and a member of Holy Family Church and Oglesby AARP. She loved her family and spending time with them.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her children John (Sue) Gillio, David (Amy) Gillio, Steven Gillio and Mary Gillio all of Oglesby.</p><p><br></p><p>She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister Mary Balzarini.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Holy Family Church or the donor’s choice.</p><p><br></p><p>Online condolences may be expressed at www.shields funeralchapel.com</p><p><br></p>

Rena and my mother grew up together as neighbors. She and Gus were in my parents’ wedding. They were good people and good friends. May she rest in peace. Our condolences to the family.
