Gertrude L Todd Obituary

Gertrude "Trudy" Todd

May 20, 1931 - March 11, 2023

Gertrude "Trudy" Todd age 91 of Waverly, NE, died on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Born on May 20, 1931 in Arapahoe, NE to Rev William and Elizabeth Roesler, she was baptized May 31.1931 and confirmed May 28 ,1944. The family moved to Lincoln her freshman year and she graduated from Lincoln High in 1948.

She attended University of Nebraska Lincoln Teacher College obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Education in 1952.

She met the love of her life, Charley at the Stuart Theater where she was a popcorn girl and Charley was the usher

with pretty blue eyes.

Trudy married Charley August 9th, 1953 (which was officiated by Trudy’s father William) and the two lived in Omaha. Trudy first worked as a teacher then stayed at home to raise her children, they were blessed with four children, Mike, Steve, Sue and Mary, all born while Charley farmed in the Millard area. The family moved to the Murdock area in 1963. Later in life she worked at Younkers and US Bank and also provided child care.

Trudy was a very active member in her church, she was a member of the Ladies Aide and Boosters club, attending bible studies, teaching Sunday school, vacation bible school, and coordinated the Christmas program for many years. She loved to sing in the choir. She served her community as a member of the Lioness Club and 4-H leader.

Trudy loved the Huskers and was a faithful fan whether it was football, basketball or volleyball. But it wasn’t just the Huskers. Charley and Trudy racked up many miles attending their children’s and grandchildren’s athletic competitions. She never missed a sporting event of her children or even grandchildren. She was a great competitor, just give her a deck of cards.

She loved to travel first with Charley and all the kids loaded up in the car and later with just Charley especially to their favorite spot Estes Park . They were always together if possible.

Trudy loved company and served as hostess to any friends or family wanting to visit the farm. She taught all she knew the importance of family and friends. And although she spent a number of her later years in a wheelchair she still loved to visit with all and her faith remained strong.
