<p>Gerard "Gerry" Joseph Maraghy, 66, died Sunday March 12, in the&nbsp;afternoon following cardiac arrest at Orange Park Medical Center.</p><p><br></p><p>The retired history school teacher is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Nichole, son Brady and grandson Haskell. Sister Louise, brothers Pat, Mike and Paul.</p><p><br></p><p>Gerry’s health issues began when he broke his back working for FEC Railroad. He then used his JU history degree and became a social studies teacher. He was Teacher of the Year at Northwestern Middle School. He taught 20 years at Westside High where he was especially known for being cheerful in the morning. He was incredibly loyal, loved the New England Patriots, all teams Boston, and most of all he loved his family.</p><p><br></p><p>To remember Gerry, there will be a celebration of life&nbsp;Friday, March 17th, at 11AM; starting at 10AM, it will be open for visiting with the family. The service will be held at The Church at Argyle, 6823 Argyle Forrest Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32244.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>

Gerard "Gerry" Joseph Maraghy, 66, died Sunday March 12, in the afternoon following cardiac arrest at Orange Park Medical Center.


The retired history school teacher is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Nichole, son Brady and grandson Haskell. Sister Louise, brothers Pat, Mike and Paul.


Gerry’s health issues began when he broke his back working for FEC Railroad. He then used his JU history degree and became a social studies teacher.
