Linda R. MacDonald Obituary

Linda Ruth MacDonald of Lakeville, formerly of Norfolk and Boston, passed on March 11, 2023, at the age of 78.

Linda was born in Boston on July 26, 1944, the daughter of the late Ashton Francis Cook and Amey (Boulter) Cook. She was the wife of the late Robert L. MacDonald Sr. (Bobby).

Linda loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also known as Mom, Nana, and Nanner, she loved to watch the children play and would participate on many occasions as well. She loved boat rides on the lake where she lived and sitting by the pool with family. She also loved family vacations, warm sunny places, palm trees, the sound of the ocean and the sound of children’s laughter. In addition, she enjoyed the mountains of New England, having owned a vacation home throughout the years with Bobby where friends and family were always welcome. She was adventurous and fun and enjoyed ATVs, snowmobiles and horseback riding; with her most recent thrill having been ziplining in Florida just a few short years ago.

For many years Linda and Bobby owned and operated the successful family business, The MacDonald Company, providing sales and service to restaurants throughout New England. In addition, Linda was an understanding and worry-free support to many. “Things always work out,” she would say. She was caring and compassionate and full of positivity and hope.

Linda was the loving wife of Robert MacDonald Sr. for 61 years. The loving mother to Brenda Carter and husband Niles of Lakeville, Robert MacDonald, Jr. and wife Kathleen of Falmouth, Brian MacDonald and fiancée Elizabeth of Newport, Rhode Island, and Keith MacDonald and wife Elizabeth of Attleboro. A loving grandmother to Chrysti Dufort and husband Aaron, Bonnie Mota, Amanda MacDonald, Emily MacDonald, Isabella MacDonald, Zachary MacDonald, Benjamin MacDonald, Alexander MacDonald, and Julia MacDonald. The loving great grandmother to Jacob, Nicholas, Lillian, and Christopher Dufort and Carter and Camden Mota.

Linda was the sister to Laurence Cook and wife Judith of Abington and Leon Cook and wife Helen of Bourne, and the late Lana Larkin of Norfolk.

Linda is also survived by her lifelong friends Doug and Lynne Dalrymple and Marty and Denyse Walsh and their families along with her considerable extended family.

A private burial will be at the Norfolk Cemetery in Norfolk and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice.
