Obituary

We mourn the loss of Sister Loretta Ellerbe, who has passed away. She was a devoted friend and

family member, known for her love of animals and children. Despite not having any of her own,

she became a second mother to many. Loretta had a zest for life and enjoyed the outdoors,

fishing, crabbing, music, dancing, and spending time with her closest friends and family. We

regret to announce that Loretta was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Dunson, and sister,

Darlene Clemons, as well as several friends and family members. However, she is survived by

her devoted significant other, Stewart Otey, who stood by her and cared for her during her

illness. She also leaves behind her cat, whom she loved as her own child, and cousins Ben

Ellerbe Jr. (Debra), William Ellerbe, Lorenzo Ellerbe, Brenda McCullough, and Mary Ray.

Loretta was very close with her beloved pastor, Reverend Glinda Ford, whom she adored and

admired. Additionally, she will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, her dear

friend Helene Ruiz, Helene's children Ginger and Carl, whom she considered as her own, and her

very close friend Nancy A. Blackwell, also known as Annie Fannie, and Annie's children whom

she loved dearly. Other cherished friends include Joe Whitehead, Michael Farrow, and many

others who loved her deeply. As we celebrate Loretta's life, we will hold on to the memories we

shared together, and we will always remember our beloved Loretta. Arrangements can be viewed below.
