John A. McCarty, age 72 of Meally, Kentucky passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 at his residence. Born October 6, 1950 in Johnson County, Kentucky to the late Jack McCarty and Eula B. Sammons McCarty.

     In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Brown McCarty; one son, John Allen McCarty; one brother, Jerry Allen McCarty; and one sister, Nellie Ratliff.

     John is survived by one son, Matthew Jason McCarty and his wife, Jerra of Thelma, Kentucky; one daughter, Sharma Roman of Meally, Kentucky; one sister, Jackie Crum and her husband, Everett of Boonscamp, Kentucky; seven grandchildren: Kevin Roman, Jessica Roman, Jocee McCarty, Alexis McCarty, Matthew McCarty, Carissa McCarty and Adaline McCarty; and three great grandchildren: Avery, Zoey and Octavia.

     A private graveside service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the McCarty Family Cemetery at Meally, Kentucky. Burial will immediately follow.

     Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.
