Barrett A. Browning Obituary

Great are Your mercies, O LORD; Revive me according to Your ordinances.

Let my cry come before You, O LORD; Give me understanding according to Your word. Let my supplication come before You; Deliver me according to Your word. ~Psalm 119:156, 169-170 (NASB95)

Barrett A. Browning was born September 4, 1982, in Louisville, Kentucky to Valerie C. Browning (White) and Rev. Dr. Wilbur S. Browning, Sr. He transitioned this earthly life to be with Jesus Christ on March 8, 2023.

Barrett accepted and received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Centennial Olivet Baptist Church by the late Rev. Dr. Joshua R. Cutler and his father (an associate minister at that time). As a youth, Barrett was actively involved in all aspects of youth ministry, and both youth and senior choirs (playing drums and singing). He remained an active member, serving in several men’s activities and church projects until his death.

He attended Slaughter Elementary, T.J. Middle School, and Fern Creek High School, where he graduated in the class of 2000. During his elementary and middle school years, Barrett enjoyed sports and played football for the Hikes Point Lobo’s junior league. He also played football at Fern Creek High School. After graduating from high school, Barrett attended the University of Louisville, and studied communications, and also worked as a videographer for the football team’s practices. After his time at U of L, Barrett worked at a number of jobs, from several restaurants, janitorial services, furniture sales positions, and at Ford Motor—Fern Valley Plant. He seemed to be most proud of his completion and certification accomplishment of a construction worker program, which allowed him to secure employment by a local construction company.

During his life, he developed many, many relationships: many of which he called his friends. He was out going, fun to be around, had a unique and contagious laughter, and would do anything to help his friends and family, of which his son Dash was his best friend—there was no one more important than DASH. Barrett and Dash were “Kevin Hart” event planning agents. Barrett was in everybody’s wedding, and Dash was invited to everybody’s birthday party. Barrett will be missed by ALL who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Dash Browning (Chrisshaun Payne—Dash’s mother); Rev. Dr. Wilbur S., Sr. and Valerie Browning, (father and mother); siblings, Wilbur S. Browning Jr., and Tracy L. Browning, Mary M. Browning (preceded him in death); uncles, Brian Tucker, Glenn Browning, George Johnson, Curtis Johnson, and Jeffrey Bradley; aunt, Edith White, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

Visitation: Monday, March 20, 2023, at 10 :00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. with funeral service immediately following at 12:00 P.M.

Both services will be held at: Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 3315 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40216.

Entombment:  Evergreen Cemetery.
