Jesse Harper Chester , Pennsylvania Obituary

Jesse Harper

Jesse Harper Sr., 100, of Chester Township, Pennsylvania was called home on February 27, 2023. Jesse was born to the late Dave Harper and Mary (Mosley) Harper in Sparta, Georgia in 1922. Jesse was educated in Sparta and started working at an early age. In 1943, he joined the United States Army Air Forces and was a World War II Veteran. In 1949, Jesse married the love of his life, the late Alice (Mars) Harper of Abbeville, South Carolina. They were married for 64 years. He retired from Material Handling Company as a Forklift Mechanic and was also the proprietor of an Auto Repair Business. Jesse was a member of St. Luke Community Christian Church as well as his mother, who was known as "Momma," who lived to be 103. He loved his church family, and he loved The Lord. He enjoyed his work as an auto mechanic and helping others. Jesse enjoyed watching old westerns, as he would call them "Old Shoot-'em-ups." He also loved listening to old-school gospel and seeing the Gospel Disciples of Chester, for which his oldest son Jesse Harper Jr. was a lead guitar player before passing in 2016. Jesse was a kind and loving person, respectful and well-respected. He dedicated his life to his wife and children. He never worried about anything and always put his trust in The Lord. His children called him "King Jesse" because he was a King to them and deserved nothing but the best. Jesse had a wonderful life. His children were always there for him and loved him dearly. Jesse was the father of 11, grandfather of 15, great-grandfather of 22, great-great-grandfather of 4, brother of 3, uncle of many nieces and nephews, cousin to many and friend to all. Jesse leaves to cherish his legacy and memories: his children, Gloria (Joseph), Diane, Portia (Francisco), Debra (James), Rose, Janet, Michael, Reginald (Carolyn), one brother-in-law, his nephews: Charlie Warren (Tonya), Larry Warren (Janice), Clifford Warren Jr. and a host of other family members, friends, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Jesse was predeceased by M. Lois Harper (daughter), Jesse Harper Jr. (son), Ronnie Harper (son), Bessie Warren (sister), Rosa Warren-Mayo (sister) and Thomas Mosley (brother). Words cannot express how much he will be missed, but we will have comfort knowing that he is resting in the arms of Jesus.

Lovingly — The Family
