Grover Harold McMahan

<p>Grover Harold McMahan, 87, of Sylva went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2023. </p><p><br></p><p>He was born in Jackson County to the late John and Hattie McMahan on April 11, 1935. Mr. McMahan was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He worked as a painter throughout his career painting many houses in Jackson and Macon County. He loved to read with his favorite book being his Holy Bible. He was a loving family man and will be missed greatly by those that knew him. </p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn McMahan, of 55 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Steve McMahan (Melissa); one daughter Misty LaVigne (Jason); five grandchildren, Chelsea Clawson (Evan), Josh McMahan, Callie LaVigne, Micah LaVigne and Kidron LaVigne and one brother, Bob McMahan of Sylva. Numerous nieces and nephews and special friends survive him as well. </p><p><br></p><p>A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Victory Baptist Church at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Rusty Wolfrey will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by VFW post 7339 and American Legion post 108.</p><p><br></p><p>Online condolences can be made at www.maconfuneralhome.com. </p><p><br></p><p>Macon Funeral Home is assisting the McMahan family with arrangements.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
