Richard “Richie” Howard Johnson, age 69, of Saugus, passed away at home of natural causes on Tuesday, February 28th.

Born and raised in Saugus, he was the son of Lillian (Woodell) Johnson of Saugus and the late George T. Johnson.

Richie was a very sentimental man. He loved to talk about his sons and his family and how much he still missed his dog, Oreo. He never walked past his mother without saying “I love you Mom”. He possessed an uncanny ability to remember minute details and he enjoyed reminiscing about people and events past and present. Richie loved Dunkin Donuts, scratch tickets, telling bad jokes and talking in general. It was a common sight to see him riding his bike around town and he never failed to yell hello to family and friends. Richard will be sadly missed by his family and a large circle of friends, especially his friend of many years “Big Mike” Mendonca.

Richard is survived by his beloved adult children, Richard Johnson and Jack Johnson and their siblings Daniel Wallace and Jaimie Shine. His siblings, Marilyn (Johnson) Metropolis and her husband William, Linda (Johnson) Jellison, George C. Johnson, Michael Johnson, Joanne Johnson and her partner Anthony Parente, Cathleen (Johnson) DiFronzo and her husband Louis, Charles Johnson and his wife Viki (Long) and Lori (Johnson) Greenslade and her partner Ned Stevens. He was preceded in death by his brothers in law Al Jellison and Steve Greenslade. Richard was such a kindhearted man. I always hugged him when my oil was delivered to my home. Embraced him with love and laughter. I looked forward to seeing him. I will miss him alot. Donna
