Family and friends will be received 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at the HUGHES FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1501 Lowrie St., Pgh., PA 15212-Troy Hill. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday in Most Holy Name Church-Troy Hill. Lillian (Abel) Rausch lived a very full life. Her faith was first and foremost. She dedicated her life to God, her family, friends, community and church. She loved our dear Lord and was always a great example of that throughout her life. Lillian loved Troy Hill. She was raised there, married Robert Rausch and raised their family there. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker with 5 daughters. Lillian always found time for her church and community. She devoted her life to giving to others. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Rosalia Founding Home, Eucharistic Minister at Allegheny General Hospital, PTA and so much more. Lillian was a devoted Catholic. She attended daily mass at St. Anthony's Chapel where she led the rosary. She was a chapel sitter for years. She was president of Christian Mothers for a number of years, helped clean the church on Thursdays, Eucharistic Minister for AGH patients, co-founder of the Golden Age Group, Ladies of Charity, Altar and Rosary Society, Resurrection Choir, Bereavement Committee and a constant volunteer for church fundraisers and activities. Lillian devoted 45 years to the Respect Life Foundation and was a long standing member of People Concerned for the Unborn Child. Since Roe v. Wade in 1972, she fought endlessly against the murder of innocent babies. It was her passion from passing out pamphlets in front of the abortion clinic in Downtown Pittsburgh to carrying picket signs in Washington DC for the annual March for Life, to counseling pregnant women calling a special 800# hotline against having an abortion, and collecting and distributing baby clothes and supplies to unwed mothers. And finally, Lillian loved to read. She read any free time she had. Books, books and more books! Into her late years after she was losing her vision, she read large print books with the most powerful magnifying glass. She was determined not to allow minor obstacles to deter her! Please post condolences on Lillian’s tribute wall at www.hughesfhinc.com.

Aunt Lil was one of the most amazing people anyone could ever know. We will surely miss her, but we know she is happy with Uncle Buck, Grandma Joyce, and all the rest of her heavenly family.

Heaven has gained a beautiful soul and a new angel. I last saw her a few years ago while I was sitting in front of the bank with Poppies for Veterans. She stopped to talk having recognized me. She was walking back home from the bank. She had the same smile as always.
