Daniel L. Gardner

July 11th, 1953 - March 2nd, 2023

Daniel Gardner passed away on Thursday, March 2nd at his home on Gardner’s Lake in East Machias at the age of 69. Born and raised in Machias, Danny and his bride Jill settled into the Lake shortly after their marriage in 1973 and began work on their beautiful home and family.

Danny was a jack of all trades; there wasn’t a piece of machinery that he couldn’t run or project he couldn’t finish. He took great pride in his abilities to create and provide. Each season brought new challenges and new opportunities to live his life exactly as he wanted.

He was an amazing Father, Husband, Friend and Worker. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for a friend, with the exception of maybe stepping on the gas a little so you weren’t late if you were unfortunate enough to get stuck behind him on the roads. Danny was always with a mischievous grin and a hearty laugh, offering sage advice and wisdom if you needed it, or a cold PBR if you wanted it.

Danny is survived by his Son Mark and his wife Gretchen of Glenburn and their children Zack and Kacey, as well as by his Son Matthew and his wife Rebecca of Bangor, Matthew’s children Christopher and Daniel as well as Rebecca’s children, all of whom knew him affectionately as Puppa.

Also surviving Danny are his siblings, Will, Ellen, Beverly and Judy as well as many nieces and nephews. Special friends including Ann Gaddis, Donny Hanscom, Jacob van de Sande, all the crew over at the garage and any cute waitress that ever served him.

Danny was left heartbroken over the passing of his beloved wife Jill in 2022, but they are finally together again playing cribbage, pulling slot handles and cruising around.
