Herbert Russell Bezanson

<p>Bezanson, Herbert “Russell”- 95 Sheet Harbour, passed away Friday March 3, 2023 in Glen Haven Manor. Born in Moser River November 15, 1927 he was a son of the late James &amp; Amy (Pace) Bezanson. Russell went to work with Elbridge Lowe &amp; Sons on the farm and in the woods at a young age. He spent 25 years with Moirs Chocolates and Bens Bread, finishing his working career with Nova Scotia Power as a Hydro Operator. Russell was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, where he served on the council for many years. He was an active member of Eureka Lodge #42 and a past master of the Masonic order. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Russell lived with his best friend and companion Violet Publicover prior to moving to the nursing home. They both enjoyed playing cards and could usually be found at a card party. Survived by children Shirley Porter (Gerald), Kentville, James (Kristy), Pictou, Timothy (Anna), Westville, grandchildren; Melissa, Corinne, Donna, Tracy, Lee, Bobby and Tyler, 11 great grandchildren. Russell was predeceased by his wife of 47 years Gertrude “Chick”, sisters; Lillian Holman, Pearl Kenney, Gladys Moser and Grace Fisher. Visitation will be held Monday March 6 from 7-9 with prayers at 7:15 and Masonic Service at 7:30 in DS Crowell &amp; Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday March 7 at 1p.m. in St. Andrews Anglican Church, Watt Section Rev. Dr. Michael Foley officiating, burial in the church cemetery. Reception to follow in the Sheet Harbour Legion. The family would like to thank the staff at Haven Brook Manor and Glen Haven Manor, for the care they showed Russell and a special thanks to Debbie Fraser for her special care.
