Juanita Frances Davis Obituary

East Machias - Juanita Frances (Knight) Davis, 87, went to her heavenly home on Friday, February, 17th, 2023, where she will join her beloved husband Kenneth Ralph Davis Sr. and other family members including sons Daniel and Duane that went on before her. She was born in Trescott, Maine, August 16, 1935, the 11th of 12 children of Arnold Dewey Knight and Catherine Teresa (Murray) Knight.

Juanita graduated from Lubec High School in 1953. She married the love of her life right out of high school and raised six children. She had a degree in nursing and was a leader of Cub Scouts for 22 years. She loved to write poetry and published several poems and short stories. Juanita lived her life in service to others. Her career in healthcare spanned many decades in which she worked as a social worker, in Home Healthcare, and in Hospitals and Nursing Homes. Upon leaving the healthcare industry, she again chose to spend her time serving others, spending 25 years as a Foster Grandparent at Elm Street School in East Machias, helping children in all areas. It was hard for her to give up helping “her children” as she called them all when she went into the Veterans Home where she still enjoyed sharing her poetry and craft making with residents. Juanita loved to do for others. She was known for her baking, canning, cake decorating, sewing and crafts among many other things. She considered herself a “penniless” millionaire and counted her many blessings every day!

Juanita is survived by her children Kenneth (Bucket) Jr. and wife Karla, Dianne Dennison and husband Randy, Richard and wife Susan and Brad. She leaves behind beloved grandchildren Angela, Adam, Shawn, Keith, Erica, Nick and Charles as well as many treasured great grandchildren.

A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday March 4th, 2023 at the Elm Street School in East Machias with Tony Maker officiating. The family would like to thank the Machias Maine Veterans Home for the wonderful care Juanita received while residing there. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
